Holly's New Fall Photos

Today we got the most lovely photos of our little girl Holly- Serenade's Written in the Lights. Holly is out of our Indy x Merlin litter and is happily residing with her family in Missouri.

Our sincere thanks go out to her owners, Sue and Denny for giving our little girl such a wonderful home! Holly looks amazing and it is obvious that she is very happy with your family!

Happy Fall Everyone!!

Addi's First Shows!

Only 12 days after he left for Canada, Addi and MJ are already working wonders! Addi's first time in the ring was at the toy dog specialty of the largest dog show in all of Canada! The judge loved him but Addi wasnt quite familar with the process so he wasn't his typical happy-go-lucky self. Addi took a very honorable Reserve win with a comment from the judge that he would have taken the points if he would have kept his tail up.. Not bad for the first time in the ring!

As the show weekend progressed, so did Addi's confidence in the ring. MJ said on day two he showed like a champ and she was so proud! Again, Addi took Reserve.

On day three, Saturday October 31, 2009- Halloween of all days! Addi took it up a notch and won his first two points under judge Enrique Filippini of Argentina. Expertly handled by our friend MJ Kurulak of Zenzero Papillons of course! Here is his show win photo from that day.. Dont they make an awesome team??

Addi ended the weekend taking another reserve. I was ecstatic! Three reserves and his first points at the largest dog show in Canada? Absolutely wonderful!

Way to go Addi and MJ!
We are SO PROUD of you both!

The Dynamic Duo Hits The Skies!

Today was full of emotions as my little love Addi (Amore Mio von Tiamo) and my best buddy Cody (Serenade's Code of Honor) took to the skies on their way to Canada.

The boys will be visiting a good friend, MJ Kurulak of Zenzero Papillons as they compete for their Canadian and American titles up north. Addi's first shows will be at the end of the month so be sure to watch for show results and hopefully, lots of good news! Cody will hit the ring soon after, and once these boys go head to head.. you are sure to be in for a show!

Check back for updates at the end of the month!

Catching Up..

Things have been crazy at Serenade this summer and I appologise for not keeping my blog updated.
Addi, Amore Mio von Tiamo, has settled in just fine and has found his place in the Serenade Pack! He is getting more and more beautiful by the day and I have yet to find a headpiece I love as much as his! Shortly after he arrived, we were contacted by his breeder who was unaware that Addi had moved to the US. She was thrilled to find that he is in a wonderful new home where he will be shown and loved! You can visit the home of Tiamo Papillons here: http://home.arcor.de/Familie-Winkler/ The news of Addi's new home at Serenade can be found on their news page, along with the newly earned championships of his two sisters and his brother! What an awesome litter! Three champions and counting. Hopefully, Addi will make us all proud!

Indy and Mini went to their new home with Angie of Satori Papillons! Angie has been patiently waiting for these two sweeties to join her home for some time and she was thrilled to finally have them home! Just before leaving, Mini had some private time with our lovely boy Cody, Serenade's Code of Honor. Just one and a half weeks ago, Mini delivered THREE beautiful GIRLS and a gorgeous little boy! We are SO PROUD of this beautiful litter! Photos can be found on the Satori website on the Upcomming Litters page.. Watch for one of these beautiful little girls to return to Serenade next year!

Mr. Merlin went on Vacation! After living almost 11 years as a "dog" (oh the pitty!) Mr. Merlin has finally gone on a well deserved vacation to Florida! Linda Cay of Caylo Papillons has been enjoying Merlin's company and baffling at this old man's crafty ways! Merlin has been enjoying his time in the bed with Linda during nap time, and in the pool during play time! We hope to try Merlin out in some show circuits down south before his return next summer! Have fun Merlin! But not TOO much fun! You will have to come home eventually!

I guess that is all for now.. We do have some more exciting news comming up soon- and I'll be better about keeping you posted!

Serenade Welcomes Addi!!!

Amore Mio vom Tiamo
aka "Addi"
(Photo by Barbel Lieblich vom Cavalierchen)

Addi is an Amazing boy that charms everyone he meets! His color and markings are just as stiking as his personality. We are so very honored to have this boy at home here at Serenade.

Addi has coat and fringe galore to only be ten months old! This boy will definately make big strides here in the US. Watch for him in the ring this summer/fall!

Addi has one of the most amazing head pieces I have ever seen. Very abrupt stop with a short muzzle and a lovely domed head complement his huge well fringed ears. My hopes are that someday, this head piece, coupled with flawless movement, will become hallmarks of all Serenade Papillons.

Addi has very impressive and exciting heritage, and we are thrilled to add this pedigree into ours!

BIS, GER JCH, LX JCH, VDH JCH, SL CH, VK CH, VDH CH, AST CH, INT CH
Ossi is the sire to Addi. He resides at Ponda's Papillons in Germany and is owned by Ponda's, as well as his co-owners: Y. Schiroke, Sean Carroll, and James Newman Schiroke.

In 2007, Ossi was awarded the SECOND BEST TOY DOG OF THE YEAR (UK), in addition to recieving the FOURTH BEST PAPILLON OF THE YEAR (UK), of which he was the SECOND BEST PAPILLON OF THE YEAR the preceeding year.

As a puppy, Ossi went BEST IN SHOW PUPPY FIVE TIMES! As a junior, he went BEST IN SHOW JUNIOR FOUR TIMES! In his prime, Ossi effortlessly took BEST IN SHOW at all breed shows FOUR TIMES.

Click Here to Read More about Ossi and all of his awards: http://www.papillons.de/ourpapillons/males/ossi.htm

We would like to thank:
Barbel Lieblich of Vom Cavalierchen Papillons for being such a wonderful friend and allowing us to have Addi here with us. To you, we will ever be grateful!
The Winkler family of Vom Tiamo Papillons for the knowledge and choice to breed this fabulous litter!
Dagmar Klein of Ponda's Papillons for the use of Ossi to produce this exquitie boy!
Thank you all for moving Serenade on step closer with the addition of this gorgeous boy. We will keep you all updated regularly and be sure to send lots of photos of his many future wins!

A Teary Farewell...

To Serenade's First Song of Eirren
aka

"Collin"

(Photo taken a few days before departure)

I knew Collin was special from birth. Very sweet boy and beautiful to boot! I had planned to keep Collin, but it didn't take long for this flashy boy to catch some attention.

This Sunday, I put my little boy on a plane to his anxiously awaited new home... IN GERMANY!!
Collin is now the prince of the castle at the world renowned Vom Cavalierchen Kennel in Germany. Huge thanks go out to Barbel for giving my boy a wonderful home amidst her beautiful butterflies!

(Photo taken this morning in Germany!)

We both have big dreams for Collin and we know he will make us both proud. Keep checking back with us for all of his show wins and updates!

Watch out Europe,

Here comes Collin!

Available Puppies

Serenade's Currently Available Puppies

Flame

Flame is a beautiful sable and white boy out of Mini and CH Merlin. He is very flashy and has a wonderful outgoing personality. His confirmation is exquisite and so is his pedigree. Flame is looking for a home of distinction, whether it be pet or show. I would love to see him in the ring, but a champion of the heart is just as nice.

To inquire about any of these paps, please go to www.geocities.com/serenadepapillons/Inquiry.html
to fill out an inquiry form.

Please inquire with integrity and dont send us junk mail about "how much is it?" Prices are VERY reasonable for the quality and will be discussed with serious parties only.

**Remember, dogs are one of the things in life that you get what you pay for. You can find dirt cheap paps online, but they wont look like paps, act like paps, or have the typical excellent pap health guaranteed by any of these puppies or dogs.

Maddie's New "Wheels"

As you know, Maddie broke her raduis and her ulna (both bones in her arm) back in January. After weeks and weeks of patience, and no playing, Maddie's fixator is finally off and she is as good as new! If anything, she's even more beautiful than before, dont ya think?
I know I'm adorable, don't you?
Ready for my close up.. Mr. Judge..
Woohoo!! Freedom!!
Get me from my good side Mom..

Thank you so much to everyone who sent words of encouragement and helped us through such a trying time. Maddie sends out butterfly kisses, we will settle with a big hug!
Thank you!

Serenade Welcomes DaVinci!

It is with GREAT pleasure that we welcome Whitney Roberts of DaVinci Papillons into our home! Whitney and I have been dear friends for a long time now, but we have never had the privilage to meet in person, until now! And for what better reason, but love! INT UKC CH Serenade Daddy's Little Girl, aka Abigail, has returned with Whitney to meet her betrothed.

INT UKC CH Serenade Daddy's Little Girl, aka Abigail
While in town, we have a lovely visit, and shared with each other some tricks of the trade. Whitney was finally able to meet some of the Serenade dogs she has grown to love from afar, including Abi's father, Sweet Boy...

INT UKC CH "Abi", and Sire INT CH "Sweet Boy"

and her husband to be.. Merlin.

INT UKC CH "Abi" and AKC CH Zeley's Merlin at Ekbacken "Merlin"
The visit was much too short, but better than none at all. We had a wonderful visit and we hope to meet again soon! Please keep checking back for updates on Abi's litter. First pick male and female will be staying with DaVinci, but there is always a chance there will be puppies in need of exceptional pet homes. Sparatic Posting!

Hi Everyone!

I appologise for not posting anything new in the last couple of weeks. We have had TONS go on, but my computer was having serious issues and I couldnt update the blog. SO.. here is one big post to catch you up!

Letters from home- We have recieved word from both families that Cowboy and Holly are both doing great in their new homes! They are being pampered and spoiled and they love it!

Maddie's fixator- Maddie has returned to the vet and her leg has healed enough that the fixator was able to come off! She is not 100% yet, so we are still being careful, but she is brace free! She is using her leg more now and enjoying her play time, even if she cant run much or jump like everyone else!

Indy's Puppies- I finally had the time for new pics of Collin, Phantom, and Piper and they are all looking SO good! I am trying to decide where to put them on the website, so I will probably be putting up a new page soon.. be on the look out for our future hopefuls page!

Now that our computer is back on track- stay tuned for current updates! Lots of exciting things happening this week!

Indy's Puppies First Day Outside

After what seemed like ages, Indy's puppies were finally allowed to make the big step outside with the adults. There were so many things to see, sniff, play with, and eat, they just didnt know where to start. Like most puppies, they go for the safe route- follow Mom!
Collin enjoyed pestering the adults through the slide. Sweet Boy especially likes to sleep under the safety of the cube and watch everyone through the holes.
Piper, as always, was GO GO GO!! Non-stop. I think she could run laps around the Energizer Bunny, and if anyone knows where that bunny is, I'm willing to put my theory to the test! She did slow down just enough to get a few cute photos though!

Phantom is looking so nice- minus the one ear up and one ear down thing. Great mover, excellent coat, gorgeous head.. this boy will be something special once his ears make up his mind!

What better way to end the day than to play with Mom before turning in for the night.

Holly Goes Home

Today we said farewell to Serenade Written In Lights, Aka Holly.

We had planned to keep Holly from birth, but despite her excellent attitude and show stopping looks, she decided not to grow. :o( Holly stayed very small and we knew she needed a home of her own. Not long after meeting Sue and Dennis, we knew this was the home we wanted for Holly. They made the 7 hour drive to our home and enjoyed lunch with us while watching the puppies play. It was clear that Holly had stolen Dennis' heart from the moment he saw her, and it didnt take Sue long to fall in love either.

Holly quickly became comfortable with her new family and chose her new Dad's lap to sleep in before they made the trip back home.

Holly may not be big enough for the show ring, but her name was "written in lights" for a reason. I'm sure we will hear more about Holly in the future- She's going to be a hit!

Cowboy Goes Home!

Serenade says a teary farewell to Cowboy, Serenade Lasso's the Moon. Cowboy was placed when he was young, but the home just didnt fit and some of the things that he experienced while he was there had a huge impact on his life. He is one of the most lovable papillons we have had, but he was quite shy.

His new family knows of his past and have had dogs with his personality before and were looking forward to the arrival of their furbaby. Upon arrival, Cowboy was a little spooked, but quickly returned to giving his trademark kisses and "Boofs."

We welcome the Gregory's to the Serenade Family and send hugs and butterfly kisses their way.

Surgery Success!

I heard back from Maddie's surgeon today and surgery was a wonderful success!

Maddie did fine with the anesthesia and the doctor was able to maneuver the bones into place without having to cut into her leg. This will allow her to heal much faster and lowers the risk of infection.

Maddie woke up without trouble and had a big lunch! She isnt moving much as her bandages are quite large today, but they will come off tomorrow and hopefully she will start using the leg within the next day or so!

Maddie will be comming home on Monday evening and if all goes well, she may have the fixator removed in as early as 4 weeks!

Now all we have to do is hope for quick healing, no infection, and a speedy recovery!

Surgery Postponed...

Well, I had hoped to post news of a successful surgery today, but instead the surgey has been moved to tomorrow.. Better than a bad surgery I supose!

Shortly after we dropped Maddie off at the surgeon's office last night, another dog was rushed in as an emergency. He had been attacked by a larger dog and was considered a higher priority because of the critical nature of his wounds.

Maddie is doing fine.. she has a comfy bed, all her toys, and a blanket that smells like everyone back home! So once more.. we wait!

Prayers for Maddie

Praying Paws for Maddie

Last week was terrible. We were back and forth to so many vets, always on the phone, and emailing x-rays to anyone who would look at them trying to decide what would be best for Maddison.

After five grueling days, we decided that the external fixator would be the best bet for Maddie and would give her the fastest recovery and the best chance of saving her lovely gait so once this is all said and done, she can continue on to her championship.

We just got home from the six hour drive to take Maddie to see her surgeon. Dr. McDonald was always there to answer any questions we may have had during the last week and he has gone above and beyond to help us do what is right by Maddie.

Maddison's surgery is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon (Monday pm), but Maddie will stay at the hospital until the evening of the 26th. Thank you all who have sent thoughts and prayers our way or to those who have voiced concern over our little girl. Please continue to keep her in your prayers this week as we pray for the steady and capable hands of the Dr. and for her safe and speedy recovery afterwards!

We will post news of the surgery after we receive it tomorrow, and will keep you updated throughout the process. Blessings!

Maddie's Bad Day

This morning, everything started as usual. Get up, let the dogs out.. and so on. As everyone was going off the porch, down the stairs, Maddie screamed. I was right behind them but she took off into the yard until I called her back and she came running with her little leg just dangling in the air. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was broken. A couple quick calls and off the the vet we go.. As soon as the vet saw her, he went for the pain meds. I was expecting pain meds- he flat knocked her out! She headed back for xrays and here is what we saw:

Yep. I'd call that a break alright. Radius and ulna both broke straight in two. Poor baby. We had her leg splinted and took home some pain meds as it would be a few days before we could get in for surgery, and that would give us time to think on which surgery we should have done at all.

As for now.. lots of rest and relaxation..
I guess she will just have to deal with being spoiled!

I will keep the blog updated with Maddie's progress, so please check back often or feel free to email if I take too long!

Merlin Turns TEN YEARS OLD TODAY!!!
We are so grateful to have Merlin with us! He is such a character! He loves a good backscratch (who doesn't?) and enjoys his daily runs! Everyone who visits loves Merlin and no one could come close when guessing his age! It must be because of the glasses..
Doesn't he look younger??

Merlin and Indy's Little Magicians... 7 weeks old

They look so cute and sweet... and innocent.. until you wake them up!
It's like they have split personalities or something!
Piper showing off like a superstar! Then when you least expect it..
She attacks!

Collin is a little doll! How can you resist that face??

Caught red handed and all he has to say for himself is
"What?"

Tiny little Holly, such a darling..

Then put her down and watch out for those teeth!

Innocent little Phantom...

Unleashes some serious karate skills!

I only hope we can survive.. lol
